Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping China's microdrama entertainment sector, with an overwhelming majority of new productions now utilizing AI technology. Between January and March 2026, approximately 128,000 micro-dramas were released, over 95% of which were produced with AI assistance. This integration drastically cuts production time and costs, enabling content creation in less than a month and reducing expenses by up to 90%. The shift has also given rise to a new market for licensing human faces to be animated by AI, further highlighting the extensive impact of this technological transformation on the industry.
In a separate technological advancement, a Chinese humanoid robot has achieved a remarkable feat by reportedly outperforming Usain Bolt's 100-meter sprinting record. Named "Lightning" and developed by smartphone maker Honor, the robot completed the sprint in 9.32 seconds during a preliminary test event for the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. This time surpasses Usain Bolt's human world record of 9.58 seconds. Another robot, "Tiangong Ultra," also recorded an impressive 9.39 seconds in a preliminary heat at the same games.
