A former Air Canada pilot, Geoffrey Wall, has been charged by police for allegedly operating commercial passenger flights for approximately 16 years using a fraudulent license. Police in Peel, Ontario, state that Wall, 59, captained over 900 domestic and international flights between 2009 and 2025 without possessing the required Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL(A)) for large aircraft, despite holding a commercial pilot license. He reportedly earned around $2.9 million (Canadian) during this period.

The alleged deception was uncovered in March 2025 during a routine documentation check, revealing anomalies in his pilot license. This led to a regulatory investigation by Transport Canada, followed by a criminal probe, "Project Icarus," initiated in January 2026. Wall, who retired in 2025, was arrested on June 1 and faces multiple charges, including fraud over $5,000, uttering forged documents, possession of a counterfeit mark, and public mischief.

Air Canada stated that the pilot was removed from active duty immediately upon discovery and that they voluntarily reported the matter to Transport Canada. The airline emphasized that passenger safety was not compromised, citing mandatory recurrent training and flight checks for all pilots. An internal audit of their pilots found no other instances of non-compliance with licensing requirements.
