Australian man arrested after Thai teen girl found dead in suitcase

An Australian man has been arrested in Thailand in connection with the death of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was discovered inside a suitcase. The victim, identified as Tunchanok Donhomla, was found near a railway line in Pattaya after her friends reported her missing. Police stated that her body bore signs of violence.

The suspect, 46-year-old Simon Peter Carman, was apprehended at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday evening as he attempted to board a flight to Perth, Australia. CCTV footage allegedly shows Carman entering a condominium with the teenager and later leaving the building alone, transporting a large black suitcase on a motorbike. Carman faces charges including murder, concealing a corpse, and taking a minor for sexual purposes, though he denies the allegations.

The family of the deceased girl expressed deep devastation, with her stepmother calling for the harshest possible punishment for the suspect. Carman, in a statement made while in custody, told the victim's family, "I feel bad for what happened to your daughter. It was out of my control."
