Warren Buffett Halts Donations to Bill Gates Charity Amid Epstein Ties Disclosure

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has ceased his annual donations to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a significant shift after two decades of substantial contributions. This decision, announced on Tuesday, July 14, follows recent disclosures concerning co-founder Bill Gates's ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Buffett is reportedly awaiting the outcome of an independent review by outside attorneys examining the foundation's connections to Epstein.

Instead of the Gates Foundation, Buffett has redirected approximately $6 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway stock to four charitable foundations managed by his children. Buffett, who was a founding trustee of the Gates Foundation until 2021, has previously donated over $36 billion to the organization since 2006. Bill Gates has publicly expressed regret for his association with Epstein, calling it a "huge mistake," but has denied any knowledge of Epstein's criminal activities. The revelations have reportedly strained the relationship between Gates and Buffett, with Buffett stating earlier this year that he is no longer speaking with Gates.
