Violent Clashes Mar PSG Champions League Celebrations in Paris; 780 Arrested

Celebrations across France for Paris Saint-Germain's recent Champions League victory over Arsenal descended into widespread violence and disorder. While thousands initially gathered peacefully in Paris and other cities, festivities quickly turned chaotic with clashes erupting between fans and police.

The unrest resulted in a significant number of arrests, with French authorities detaining over 780 individuals nationwide on charges ranging from assaulting officers to theft and vandalism. Tragically, one person died in a road accident during the disturbances, and hundreds more, including 57 police officers, sustained injuries as rioters set fires and vandalized shops. Incidents were concentrated around the Champs-Élysées and near the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris, but also affected approximately 15 other French cities.
