Suspect charged in Charlie Kirk murder as details emerge from investigation

Tyler Robinson, 23, is currently facing aggravated murder charges in Utah for the September 10, 2025, assassination of conservative activist and prominent Trump ally, Charlie Kirk. A preliminary hearing began on July 6, 2026, where prosecutors are presenting evidence to a state district judge to determine if the case should proceed to trial.

During the ongoing hearing, details have emerged from the investigation, including testimony from a police officer who observed what appeared to be a "sniper pad" on a rooftop overlooking the scene of the shooting at Utah Valley University. Prosecutors allege Robinson confessed to the killing in a note left for his romantic partner, and they plan to introduce DNA evidence linking him to the suspected murder weapon.
