Charlie Kirk murder suspect told roommate 'he wishes he hadn't done it,' court hears

Utah prosecutors have presented testimony from the roommate of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September 2025 at Utah Valley University. The roommate, Lance Twiggs, informed authorities that Robinson confessed to the murder shortly after the incident, expressing remorse.

According to Twiggs' statements, which were presented in a Utah court, Robinson admitted to the killing via text messages and in person. Twiggs recounted that Robinson, who was also his romantic partner, became tearful and wished he "hadn't done it." Robinson allegedly cited Kirk's "hatred" as his motive.

This testimony is a key component in the ongoing preliminary hearing, where prosecutors aim to establish sufficient evidence to proceed to trial on aggravated murder charges, for which they are seeking the death penalty. Lance Twiggs has been granted immunity for his cooperation with the investigation.
