The Five Eyes intelligence alliance, comprising the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, has issued a joint warning regarding Chinese state-backed actors actively recruiting government and military personnel through online professional networking sites. These Chinese military intelligence services are allegedly using platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed to target individuals with access to sensitive or classified information.

The warning, titled "Safeguarding Our Secrets," details how recruiters often pose as consultants, human resources professionals, or think tank staff, offering seemingly legitimate job opportunities such as foreign policy or defense analyst roles. The ultimate aim is to pressure successful candidates into providing non-public military, political, and economic intelligence, which could give China a strategic advantage over the Five Eyes nations.

While individual member countries have issued similar warnings previously, this joint bulletin is notably unprecedented in its scope and coordination. China has strongly refuted these allegations, labeling them as "entirely fabricated" and "malicious slander."
