Danish footballer Christian Eriksen is reportedly in "good spirits" and expected to be discharged from the hospital soon, following an on-field collapse during an international friendly match against Ukraine on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Odense, Denmark. The 34-year-old midfielder clutched his chest and fell in the 65th minute of the game. The match was subsequently abandoned.

This incident marks Eriksen's second on-field collapse, having previously suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 in 2021, which led to him being fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Reports indicate that his ICD activated and functioned as intended during Sunday's event. Eriksen regained consciousness quickly and was able to walk off the pitch before being taken to Odense University Hospital for further examination.
