Alleged Irish crime boss Daniel Kinahan has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates to Ireland today, August 9, 2026, concluding an international pursuit. The 49-year-old was handed over to Irish authorities in Dubai and transported via an Irish government jet, expected to arrive in Dublin this evening. Kinahan faces charges in Ireland including leading a criminal organization, murder, and drug trafficking, with his syndicate estimated to be worth over $1 billion.

This extradition follows his arrest in Dubai in April 2026, which occurred after an Irish arrest warrant was issued. The move was facilitated by a bilateral extradition treaty between the UAE and Ireland, which formally came into effect in May 2025. Upon arrival in Dublin, Kinahan is expected to be brought before the Special Criminal Court and subsequently detained at the maximum-security Portlaoise Prison pending his trial.
