**Alleged Irish Crime Boss Daniel Kinahan Extradited from UAE to Face Charges in Ireland**

Daniel Kinahan, identified as a leading figure in an international crime syndicate, was extradited from the United Arab Emirates to Ireland on Sunday, August 9, 2026. This significant development marks the culmination of efforts by Irish authorities to bring him to justice. Kinahan had been residing openly in Dubai for approximately a decade before his arrest in April 2026, which was based on an Irish warrant for serious organized crime offenses. His transfer was facilitated by an extradition treaty between the UAE and Ireland, which became effective in May 2025.

Upon his arrival in Dublin via an Irish government jet, Kinahan, aged 49, was immediately taken to the Special Criminal Court. There, he was formally charged with directing a criminal organization, an offense he allegedly committed between October 2015 and April 2017. The extradition and subsequent charging of Kinahan, described by a joint statement from the justice ministers of both countries as one of the most wanted individuals in transnational organized crime, underscores a reinforced commitment to international judicial cooperation against serious offenders. He has been remanded in custody to Portlaoise Prison.
