Woman killed, 1,700 evacuated in deadly beach hotel fire in Dominican Republic

A tragic fire at a beach resort in the Dominican Republic on Friday led to one fatality and the evacuation of approximately 1,700 individuals. The blaze, which rapidly engulfed the Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham hotel in Bayahibe, claimed the life of Francesca Valentino, a 46-year-old Italian tourist.

Strong winds and the resort's highly flammable thatched roof materials contributed to the quick spread of the fire. Emergency crews swiftly responded to control the inferno, relocating the displaced guests to nearby accommodations. While three people required hospitalization and six others received on-site treatment, authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the devastating incident.
