Teen Pleads Guilty in Georgia School Shooting That Killed Four

A 16-year-old, Colt Gray, has pleaded guilty to murder and all 55 counts related to a 2024 school shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. The incident, which occurred on September 4, 2024, resulted in the deaths of two students and two teachers, and left several others wounded. Gray, who was 14 at the time of the shooting, entered the plea without a deal with prosecutors, meaning the sentencing decision will be made by the judge after hearing evidence and victim impact statements.

The victims of the attack were identified as students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, and teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53. Investigators revealed that Gray carefully planned the shooting, bringing a semi-automatic assault-style rifle to school hidden in a poster board.

Furthermore, Colt Gray's father, Colin Gray, was convicted in March 2026 on charges including second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for providing the weapon his son used in the attack. The elder Gray's sentencing is scheduled to occur next week. Colt Gray was charged as an adult and faces a potential sentence of life in prison without parole.
