Deadly storms sweep northern Europe, leaving deaths and widespread power outages

Northern Europe is grappling with the severe aftermath of two powerful storms, Boelo and Austen, which swept across the region over the past weekend, causing significant disruption and claiming at least one life. The storms brought hurricane-force winds, torrential rain, and storm surges that led to extensive power outages and travel chaos across multiple countries.

The violent weather left hundreds of thousands of homes without electricity. In Britain, over 400,000 households experienced power loss during the storms, while nearly 60,000 homes in France and at least 10,000 in Germany were also affected. A man tragically died in Scotland after being struck by a falling tree, and several individuals sustained injuries in Germany, France, and Belgium due to falling debris and scaffolding.

Further complicating matters, the storms severely impacted transportation networks, leading to numerous flight cancellations at major hubs like Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport and disrupting ferry and rail services across the affected areas. Authorities are working to restore power and clear damaged infrastructure as the region braces for continued challenging weather conditions.
