Israeli strikes on Gaza escalate, leaving multiple dead and destroying medical supplies

Recent Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in at least 13 fatalities, according to local health authorities, with strikes impacting multiple residential areas. Among those killed in attacks reported on Sunday, August 2, 2026, were a pregnant woman and her husband, an elderly man, and several children in various locations across the Gaza Strip. Additional strikes on Saturday, August 1, also claimed lives, bringing the total casualties from weekend operations to at least eight, according to Gaza officials.

The escalation of strikes has also caused significant damage to Gaza's already strained medical infrastructure. On Saturday, August 1, Israeli forces destroyed two warehouses containing essential medicines and medical supplies at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, severely damaging two others. The Gaza Health Ministry warned that these attacks, which also damaged an adjacent outpatient clinic, are rapidly pushing the enclave's medical system towards collapse due to the loss of vital supplies. The director general of Gaza's Health Ministry, Munir Al-Bursh, highlighted that Israeli attacks have expanded to target medicine storage facilities, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
