Knife attack sparks anti-immigrant violence in Northern Ireland; homes and vehicles set ablaze

A recent knife attack in North Belfast has ignited widespread anti-immigrant violence and rioting across Northern Ireland. On Monday evening, a man was severely wounded in the assault, and a graphic video of the incident quickly circulated online. Subsequently, a 30-year-old Sudanese asylum seeker was charged with attempted murder and other offenses in connection with the attack.

Following the online dissemination of the video and calls from far-right groups, masked individuals initiated widespread unrest on Tuesday night. Rioters set homes, vehicles—including a public bus—and trash bins ablaze in Belfast and other areas, forcing numerous families, some targeted due to their ethnicity, to flee.
