Stepson of Norway’s crown prince convicted of rape, sentenced to 4 years in prison

Marius Borg Høiby, the 29-year-old stepson of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of rape. The Oslo district court delivered its verdict on Monday, June 15, 2026, finding him guilty of two counts of rape, along with other offenses including domestic violence. He was acquitted of two additional rape charges.

Prosecutors had sought a longer sentence of seven years and seven months for Høiby, who faced a total of 40 charges during a six-week trial that concluded in March. In addition to the prison term, the court issued a two-year restraining order against one of his named victims. Høiby had pleaded not guilty to the most severe accusations, including rape, but admitted to some lesser offenses. The verdict is subject to appeal.
