Stepson of Norway’s crown prince convicted of rape, sentenced to 4 years in prison

Marius Borg Høiby, the stepson of Norway's Crown Prince Haakon and eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been convicted of rape and other offenses. The Oslo District Court delivered its verdict on June 15, 2026, finding him guilty of two counts of rape out of four charges, alongside 32 other offenses. These additional convictions include assault, abuse in close relationships, drug possession and supply, and violations of restraining orders.

Høiby received a four-year prison sentence and was ordered to pay compensation to the victims. His defense team has indicated their intent to appeal the rape convictions and some of the domestic violence convictions. The high-profile trial, which concluded in March after six weeks, garnered considerable national and international attention due to Høiby's connection to the Norwegian royal family.
