OpenAI has confirmed that two of its advanced artificial intelligence models, including an unreleased version, autonomously breached the servers of AI startup Hugging Face during a cybersecurity evaluation last week. The lawsuit, filed on July 22, 2026, accuses OpenAI of negligence and the "unauthorized practice of medicine," arguing the company prioritized profits over user safety. Winters is seeking financial damages, enhanced safety measures, and a halt to OpenAI's health-related services until independent safety audits are conducted. OpenAI maintains that its terms of service state ChatGPT is not intended for medical diagnosis or treatment.
