Seven-month-old Palestinian baby killed by Israeli gunfire in West Bank; ceasefire violations tracked

A seven-month-old Palestinian infant, Sam Fahd Abou Haikal, was tragically killed by Israeli gunfire in the Tel Rumeida area, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, on Friday evening. His parents were also wounded in the incident. The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the baby's death at the scene.

According to reports, the family was driving when their vehicle was targeted. The Israeli military stated that during an operational activity, soldiers perceived a vehicle accelerating towards them and fired shots.

An initial inquiry by the Israeli military found that the injured individuals were "uninvolved civilians" and expressed "deep sorrow" for the harm caused, adding that the incident is under investigation.
