Secret Service agent on Vance’s detail put on leave amid leak investigation

A Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance's protective detail has been placed on administrative leave following an investigation into alleged leaks of sensitive security information. The agent, identified as Tomas Escotto, is accused of disclosing details such as protective formations, shift schedules, and upcoming travel plans to an undercover journalist from O'Keefe Media Group. Some reports indicate he also shared photographs taken from Air Force Two, potentially containing location data.

The Secret Service initiated an internal review and has revoked Escotto's security clearance and access to agency systems and facilities. Deputy Director Matthew Quinn stated that the agency has "no tolerance for any behavior that could potentially compromise the safety, privacy, or trust of our protectees." In response to the incident, the Secret Service has ordered all personnel to retake mandatory anti-espionage training and issued an apology to the Vance family. The investigation is ongoing, and no criminal charges have been publicly announced.
