Austrian man sentenced to 15 years for plot to attack Taylor Swift concert

An Austrian court has sentenced a 21-year-old man, identified as Beran A., to 15 years in prison for his plot to carry out a terrorist attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. The sentencing took place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Wiener Neustadt, following his conviction on various terrorism-related charges.

Beran A. was found guilty of planning an Islamist attack in August 2024, intending to target concert-goers outside the Ernst Happel Stadium with knives or homemade explosives. He had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and attempted to acquire weapons and produce explosive materials for the foiled attack. The planned Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna were subsequently cancelled after authorities uncovered the plot.
