CNN Exclusive: False claims, chaos, and coverups behind Trump admin's killing of two Americans

A recent CNN exclusive investigation has brought to light allegations of false claims, disorganization, and coverups within the Trump administration concerning the deaths of two American citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti. The report specifically scrutinizes the 18 days between their killings and questions the handling of immigration enforcement and the shooting incidents by the administration.

One of the cases detailed is the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old American woman, by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 7, 2026, during an operation. While federal officials and then-President Trump defended the agent's actions as self-defense, claiming Good attempted to ram him with her vehicle, these assertions were disputed by eyewitnesses, journalists, and Democratic lawmakers, who called for criminal investigations. Alex Pretti was also killed by Border Patrol agents, with authorities stating he possessed a firearm.

These incidents sparked widespread protests and drew criticism regarding the Trump administration's approach to immigration enforcement. Analysts have highlighted a notable increase in shootings by immigration agents involving moving vehicles during this period, a practice often discouraged or banned by other law enforcement agencies due to safety concerns. Following the Minneapolis killing, the White House reportedly showed some signs of policy adjustment, including changes in leadership for the enforcement operation and a shift in communication with the Minnesota Governor.
