Trump administration unveils "Patriot Passports" and nominates new ICE director

President Donald Trump's administration has recently announced several significant actions, including the unveiling of a new "patriot passport" to mark America's 250th anniversary. This limited-edition commemorative passport features President Trump's portrait and signature, alongside text from the Declaration of Independence and an image of the Founding Fathers. These special passports are set to be issued starting July 6, 2026, from the Washington Passport Agency.

In a move impacting international trade, President Trump also threatened to impose 100% tariffs on European countries that implement a digital services tax on American technology companies. He asserted that these tariffs would override existing trade agreements and be enforced immediately, a response to European nations considering or enacting such taxes.

Furthermore, the President nominated Lance Schroyer as the new director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Schroyer, a former Oklahoma state trooper and U.S. Marine with extensive law enforcement experience, currently serves as a senior advisor to the Homeland Security Secretary. Trump praised Schroyer as a "patriot" with proven operational experience in immigration enforcement, a role that has lacked a Senate-confirmed director since 2017.
