Trump denies munitions shortage, posts AI images, and faces scrutiny over new tariffs

U.S. President Donald Trump has recently addressed concerns over military readiness, denying reports of a dwindling U.S. munitions supply. He stated that the country possesses significantly more ammunition than needed, despite prior discussions among military officials about the potential for a broader offensive against Iran to deplete air defense missile stocks. These concerns reportedly influenced a decision to pause a major military escalation against Iran.

Amidst ongoing tensions with Iran, President Trump also utilized his Truth Social platform to share several AI-generated images. These posts depicted aggressive actions, including graphics illustrating a "STRIKE ON KHARG," referencing Iran's primary oil export hub, and an Iranian-flagged tanker in flames with the caption "No More Engines." Another image showed the President and U.S. service members raising an American flag on an Iranian vessel, captioned "It's Our Oil Tanker Now!"

Separately, the Trump administration's recently implemented "Section 301" tariffs are facing significant scrutiny. These new tariffs, ranging from 10% to 12.5% on goods from 60 U.S. trading partners, were introduced to replace previous global tariffs that were struck down by the Supreme Court. Critics, including the Progressive Policy Institute, contend that these tariffs are likely illegal, could impose an annual cost of $100 billion on Americans, and may lead to increased prices for both consumers and businesses.
