Trump to profit from US policy announcements by selling early access to Truth Social posts

Former President Donald Trump's social media platform, Truth Social, has initiated a new service offering Wall Street traders early access to his posts, alongside those of other high-ranking accounts, for a monthly fee of $100,000. This "Truth API" service has sparked significant ethical concerns regarding potential insider trading, market fairness, and the use of a public office for private financial gain, as Trump's online pronouncements frequently influence financial markets and policy decisions. Critics argue that such a service provides an unfair advantage to paying subscribers, allowing them to profit from market movements before the general public. Trump Media has defended the offering, while the White House has declined to comment.

Adding to the controversies, President Trump has threatened to revive a substantial "Anti-Weaponization Fund" totaling nearly $1.8 billion. This fund, initially part of a settlement with the Justice Department over leaked tax returns, aims to compensate individuals claiming to be victims of government overreach. The proposed fund has drawn bipartisan criticism, with concerns that it could be used to benefit Trump's political allies, including those involved in the January 6 Capitol events. While Trump's Attorney General nominee, Todd Blanche, has stated the fund is "dead," Trump recently indicated on Truth Social that he would "push hard" for its re-establishment if two Republican senators continue to block Blanche's confirmation. Trump has also filed an appeal to reinstate the fund following a federal judge's ruling that deemed its creation a manipulation of the judicial process.
