US support for Ukraine is experiencing significant strain amid recent disputes involving Starlink satellite communications and fractured ties with President Donald Trump. Ukrainian authorities reported a throttling of Starlink and Starshield services, impacting military operations, particularly drone capabilities and air defenses. While Elon Musk attributed control over Starshield's usage limits to the US government, President Trump has denied direct involvement in slowing down the service.

Adding to the tension, President Trump's efforts to broker an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine, coupled with eased sanctions on Russian diesel exports, drew sharp criticism from Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries after a brief halt, citing Russia's non-adherence to the truce, a move Trump publicly denounced as "a disgrace."
