Tupac Murder Accused Duane Davis Confesses Nephew Fired Fatal Shots to Police

In a significant development in the murder trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis, jurors in Las Vegas have heard a 2008 recorded police interview where Davis allegedly detailed the night Tupac Shakur was killed, implicating his nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, as the shooter. The recording, presented in court on Thursday, August 20, 2026, describes how a white Cadillac carrying Davis, Anderson, and two other men pulled alongside Shakur's vehicle. Davis claimed he passed a firearm to another occupant, who declined it, before Anderson, seated in the back, took the weapon and opened fire.

Prosecutors are heavily relying on this 2008 admission, along with Davis's 2019 memoir "Compton Street Legend" and other public statements, to build their case that Davis orchestrated the 1996 drive-by shooting. Davis, who has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, was arrested in September 2023, decades after Shakur's death.
