Fresh Russian strikes across Ukraine have resulted in at least eight fatalities and dozens of injuries, prompting strong condemnation from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who accused Moscow of terrorizing the Ukrainian populace. Attacks were reported in multiple regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia, on or around September 27-28, 2026.

Among the casualties, three individuals, including a 16-year-old girl, were killed in Sumy when a children's center was hit. Further strikes claimed one life in the Odesa region and another in Kyiv due to a drone attack. In Kharkiv, at least 22 people, including children, sustained injuries after a guided aerial bomb struck an apartment block. Kyiv also saw a woman and two 16-year-olds hospitalized with injuries, while authorities in the Zaporizhzhia region reported one death and four injuries from numerous attacks.

President Zelenskyy characterized the assaults as "terrorism," emphasizing that Russia possesses no military objectives for targeting civilian infrastructure. He noted that in the preceding week, Russia had launched nearly 4,000 drones, aerial bombs, and missiles across Ukraine, impacting residential areas, schools, kindergartens, and essential facilities. Damaged sites included multiple houses, a warehouse, a production facility, a shop, a hotel, a medical building, and a grain warehouse.
