Iran has announced it has closed the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global shipping lane, asserting this action is a response to ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon and a perceived breach of commitments by the United States. Tehran claims the U.S. failed to uphold its end of a recently signed interim agreement, which called for an end to hostilities in the region. This development follows recent Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, which reportedly resulted in at least 16 fatalities.

However, the United States has swiftly disputed Iran's declaration, with U.S. Central Command affirming that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial maritime traffic.
