US-Russian space crew lands safely after eight-month stint on ISS

An international space crew, comprising NASA astronaut Chris Williams and Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev, successfully returned to Earth on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Their Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft executed a parachute-assisted landing in the steppes of Kazakhstan, southeast of Dzhezkazgan, at 6:27 a.m. EDT (10:27 GMT), concluding a 241-day mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The trio’s eight-month stint on the orbiting laboratory marked the first spaceflight for both Williams and Mikaev, while Kud-Sverchkov completed his second mission. Following their safe touchdown, recovery teams assisted the crew, who will now undergo medical checks before Williams returns to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston and his Russian counterparts head to their training base in Star City.
