Mauricio Pochettino agrees deal to remain US Men's National Team coach through 2030 World Cup

Mauricio Pochettino has officially agreed to a new four-year contract, committing him to the role of head coach for the US Men's National Team through the 2030 World Cup. U.S. Soccer announced the extension on Monday, August 3, 2026, following months of negotiations that began before the recent 2026 World Cup.

The new agreement broadens Pochettino's influence, tasking him and his coaching staff with advising on the wider development of U.S. soccer, including youth programs, coaching education, and collaboration with professional leagues. Pochettino, who assumed the position in September 2024, guided the USMNT to the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup, where the team achieved a record three victories in the group stage.

Although specific financial terms were not released, it is anticipated that Pochettino will receive an increase from his previous $6 million annual salary. Billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin, who contributed to Pochettino's initial contract, is reportedly a key financial supporter of this new deal.
