Israeli Settlers Attack Journalists, Detain US Democrat in West Bank

Israeli settlers recently launched an assault on a CNN crew and other journalists in the West Bank near the village of Sinjil. The media personnel were reporting on the one-year anniversary of the killing of Palestinian-American Saif Musallet, who was reportedly beaten to death by settlers in the area. During the incident, which occurred on Saturday, July 11, 2026, settlers allegedly used clubs, rocks, and a knife to damage vehicles and obstruct the journalists' movement. Israeli police subsequently arrested four suspects in connection with the attack.

Separately, earlier that same week, US Democratic Representative Ro Khanna reported being detained for approximately 90 minutes by armed Israeli settlers while visiting a Palestinian village in the West Bank that had been impacted by settler actions. Khanna stated that the settlers, allegedly carrying American-made rifles, blocked his group's vehicle, and that Israeli military forces later arrived but initially sided with the settlers before his release was secured following calls to the US Embassy.
