England's manager, Thomas Tuchel, faced significant criticism from various quarters for his tactical choices during the match. After Anthony Gordon's opening goal, Tuchel made defensive substitutions and switched to a deeper formation, which many believed allowed Argentina to gain control and ultimately score two late goals to secure their place in the final.
