Millions of people recently viewed misleading social media posts regarding Donald Trump's presence at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. While Trump did attend the match and participated in the trophy presentation, several fabricated narratives circulated online. These included an AI-generated image falsely depicting him sleeping during the game, as well as a cropped official photo from Spain's football federation that led to untrue claims of Trump being maliciously edited out of the celebration picture.

The former president's presence at the final, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0, generated significant discussion, particularly after he remained on stage during the Spanish team's celebrations alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
